This sculpture was made in 1986. It is twenty-eight feet long and has fourteen 3D neon replicas of the Space Shuttle. Each one is two feet long and light sequentially to give the illusion of the Space Shuttle coming in for a "touch and go." Each shuttle is configured differently to portray the wheels lowering and raising and engines firing and powering up. I was half way through bending up the shuttles when the Challenger exploded. I hoped like heck that my shuttle would not meet the same fate.
